Environmental Manager

This position is the leader of the Country Environmental Team with direct responsibility for environmental regulatory affairs.  Their primary role is to protect the company’s license to operate within Mozambique by ensuring compliance with both the letter and intent of the environmental regulations within the country.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years relevant experience required;
  • Oil & gas experience preferred, but not required;
  • Good working knowledge of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards and implementation of such;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-cultural situations and with cross-discipline professionals;
  • Ability to develop and implement sustainable processes;
  • Computer skills including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with Government Officials to support the prompt and accurate exchange of information supporting AMA1 activities;
  • Coordinate and oversee all government requests related to the environment on behalf of AMA1;
  • Build capacity of government agencies in support of AMA1 programs such as skill development, education, and input into the development of regulations;
  • Support the environmental and social lender due diligence process;
  • Ensure necessary environmental licenses are obtained;
  • Ensure all EMP requirements are communicated and training is provided;
  • Monitor and report the implementation of all EMP’s through periodic validation exercises;
  • Ensure all environmental regulatory reporting requirements are met;
  • Work with contractors to ensure environmental management programs/ systems align with Hallmark Oil And Gas Ltd. requirements (regulatory, international and Hallmark Oil And Gas Ltd.);
  • Recommend environmental metrics and performance measures based on Hallmark Oil And Gas Ltd. requirements;
  • Ensure there is a system in place for the collection, assessment, and reporting of environmental data to line management;
  • Participate in environmental incident investigations and share lessons learned;
  • Provide recommendations for environmental mitigations to work planning as part of the risk assessment process;
  • Lead the assessment and mitigation of environmental risks;
  • Management of 3rd party environmental audits and implementation of corrective actions
  • Define environmental training requirements;
  • Input into the development of environmental training;
  • Ensure delivery of environmental training and monitor the effectiveness;
  • Input into Project and Camp Orientations;
  • Input into Emergency Response Planning (including Oil Spill Response);
  • Develop environmental procedures/tools/processes and methodologies to assess their effectiveness;
  • Provide environmental input into Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Annual Plan Development;
  • Recommend Industry best practices that align with APC Best Practices.

Education

Environmental or related Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree a plus

Certifications/Licenses

Valid driver’s license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle is required
